How to Share a ChatGPT Conversation (Share Link or File)
To share a ChatGPT conversation, open the chat, click the Share button at the top, and create a link. Anyone with that link can view a snapshot of the conversation as it was when you shared it — messages you add later are not included. Share links are quick, but they are public URLs and need an internet connection to open. When you need something to attach to an email, file with a report or send inside a company, export the chat to Word or PDF with a browser extension and share the file instead.

How to manage or delete ChatGPT share links
You can review every link you have created in one place:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Data controls.
- Find Shared links and click Manage.
- Delete any link you no longer want to be public.
Deleting a link stops it from working, but it cannot pull back copies someone already made — screenshots, copied text or saved pages.
Limits of share links
- Online only. The recipient needs an internet connection and access to chatgpt.com to read it.
- Anyone with the URL can view it. If the link is forwarded, it reaches people you never meant to share with — a concern when the chat contains client names, internal numbers or personal details.
- Not a deliverable. A link is not a file you can attach, archive, print or hand in as a report, and it can disappear if you delete it later.
- Company rules. Many workplaces restrict sending external links, or block the site entirely on work devices.
Link or file: which should you use?
- A quick look for a friend or teammate: a share link.
- An email attachment, client handover or anything that must be kept: Word or PDF.
- Content with sensitive details: a file you can edit first, rather than a public link.

Can people see new messages after I create a share link?
Generally no. A share link shows the chat as it was when you created the link. Create a new link to share later messages.
